After our short film Mate became the first Australian film to win the prestigious International Grand Prix Best Film at the acclaimed Clermont-Ferrand 2022 festival, leading to an Oscar long listing in 2023. Jess and Nick EP’d, Finding Addison (Blue Sparrow Entertainment) which won Best Short film at the 2024 AACTA Australian Academy Awards. Jess was also DOP on Finding Addison.
TEN ALPHAS FILMS are drawn to stories from the heart, that focus on social and societal issues. That talk to the human condition and makes us think about what makes the world a better place, what makes us better people.
Topics produced include the death penalty, fatherhood, adoption, end of life, and mental health.
Primarily focussed on live action, TEN ALPHAS FILMS have developed a slate of projects that span comedy, drama, crime in feature, tv scripted and documentary formats.
We are happy to accept unsolicited inquiries but our slate is full at present.

Jess is the co-founder and Artistic Director of TEN ALPHAS and TEN ALPHAS FILMS. With extensive experience in media, strategy, and filmmaking, she has worked with Cutting Edge, Defence, Mazda Australia, and The Australian Communications and Media Authority. She has also taught design and animation at The Queensland College of Art and content creation at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS).
Jess's background in post-production and design gives her a well-rounded skill set, making her an extremely capable filmmaker. She combines her technical expertise with creative vision to produce outstanding work.
In addition to brand films and documentaries, Jess focuses on narrative projects. She was the Executive Producer and Cinematographer for the AACTA award-winning film "Finding Addison." She also Executive Produced the short film "Mate," which won the Grand Prix at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in 2022. Jess has directed and shot several award-winning music videos, short films and created a rockumentary in Chiang Mai, Thailand, the first of a six-part series on music in Southeast Asia.
Jess holds degrees in theatre and fine art, and digital design (1st class honours), and she completed her Masters in Screen Arts and Business at AFTRS. Her blend of practical and academic experience, along with her teaching roles, make her a strong presence in the film and content production industry.
Nick is a filmmaker and business owner based on the South Coast of NSW, working across film, documentary and commercial. His last two creative projects have been Oscar longlisted (Mate 2023), and an AACTA award winner, (Finding Addison 2024). Drawn to live action production, primarily set in the current day that address human issues and societal themes, his work makes you think about the world we live in and what makes it a better place.
Nick is the Managing Director and Co-Founder of TEN ALPHAS, a production company based in Sydney and Wollongong. His sister business TEN ALPHAS FILMS develops original creative narrative projects.
He has been recognised onto the Screen Practitioner program by Screen NSW and SPA, and was nominated for Best Producer of the Year Short Film at the 2023 SPA Awards.
As the Chair of Screen Illawarra, Nick is passionate about growing the screen community in a regional area, and was recognised in the City of Wollongong Awards 2024 for Services to Arts and Culture.
Nick is very proud to teach at AFTRS and Sydney Film School, and as an actor is represented by Victoria Jackson at Phoenix Talent.
